Have you ever dreamed of bright rooms drenched in daylight, or some extra ventilation for your home? Perhaps you want to adapt your loft into a sunny living space, but you’re afraid that your low–pitched roof will prevent that from happening? We have great news – with the technology we use today all you have to do is to follow some simple rules. It’s nothing complicated!
1. The pitch of your roof
Rooflights and roof windows are very popular choices when it comes to bringing natural light into your home. The most important factor to consider before installing them is the pitch of your roof. Low–pitched roofs are perfect for windows as long as they have a specific angle, since with lower pitches, the rainwater doesn’t run down as quickly and smoothly. That’s why it’s important to ensure that an additional angle to your window is added, so that the water will not start accumulating on the glass, preventing any leaking and therefore staining your walls. For many roof lights and roof windows, a minimum pitch of fall for flat roofs should be three degrees, but at higher pitches,it will be more efficient. For low–pitchroofs, the perfect angle is usually about 10 to 15 degrees.
2. Flat roof windows
Year after year, flat roof windows are gaining popularity. They’re commonly used to let in more daylight and fresh air into your space, both private and public. You can choose between different types of opening, including fixed, manual or electrical. It’s important to find the right window for your needs, regardless of the required size. At Sunlux,we offer windows made only with high–quality materials, using innovative solutions, with great attention to aesthetics, manufactured by us, Fakro and Velux.
3. Flat roof skylights and rooflights
The main purpose of skylights is visually expanding any kind of interior by adding more daylight. If you choose to add ventilation, you should choose the solar or manual option over fixed. They come with an opening mechanism that allows fresh air to get through, as well as a movable screen that offers protection from insects. Flat glass fixed rooflights are also a very practical solution, as they’re non-opening, double–glazed and easy to install. Skylights and rooflights have smart designs that will easily compliment bodies of residential, modern or industrial buildings.
Minimum pitch windows don’t differ much from your regular roof windows. The only difference is that they can be used on roofs with lower pitches or flat surfaces. At Sunlux, we provide you with windows manufactured with care and great attention to detail that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also greatly optimised, easy to maintain and thermo-insulating.
